Washer Won T Spin Until I Open And Close The Lid

I have a old ish roper by whirlpool top load washing machine.

Washer won t spin until i open and close the lid.

I have a ge top load washer model gtw680bsj5ws. There is a pause between the agitation cycle and the tub drain spin. If your magnet is positioned properly it will be possible for you to open and close the lid at will during regular use. Like the title says.
