Thankfully there s a fix for this and it s called a gutter splash guard.
Water runs over gutters.
I recommend gutter covers if you have a steep pitched roof and you get a water flow gutter covers.
If your gutter has been previously installed rather than taking it down and redoing it you can easily place a small strip of metal flashing under the drip edge and over the back of the gutter as shown by the illustration at the bottom of this page so the water will shed into the gutter.
Naturally if the water is flowing over the top of your gutters it also means that it is sitting on your roof.
If gutters don t slope water gathers in them.
If gutters slope too severely they don t hold water and water could splash over the sides in heavy rain.
To sum it up gutter diverters can help with overflowing water in gutters only on inside or outside gutter corners.
The amount of collected water increases until it spills over the sides of the gutter.
The gutter slope also called the pitch is the amount the gutter tilts down to let rainwater flow out of it.
Once you ve cleaned out the mess always wash out the gutter and downspouts with a garden hose to flush out the remaining dirt.
If you have a steeply pitched roof the water may be traveling so fast it splashed over the gutter.
I do not recommend gutter covers if you have a low pitched roof and i don t recommend mesh gutter covers.
Too much water being forced down the valley on your roof.
The longer you let water sit on your roof the higher the chances of developing roof leaks.
To prevent the amount of water over running your gutters one of the best options is using an l shaped piece of metal the same metal as the gutters riveted to the top of the outside edge of the gutter at the base of the valley.
